Additional Information

This is a known limitation where publishing feature classes with subtypes from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online requires that the symbology be configured to use unique values in order for the subtypes to function properly in ArcGIS Online. ArcGIS Online documentation states: "After establishing subtypes and their domains, feature classes require that unique value renderers be established before publishing to ArcGIS Online. Unique value renderers essentially mean unique symbology; editing the primary symbology so that each subtype has unique symbology, enables the subtypes and domains functionality in ArcGIS Online." Refer to this documentation https://support.esri.com/en-us/knowledge-base/publish-feature-layer-with-subtypes-and-domains-to-use--000022091 for more information.

Workaround

  • Add the feature class to a new map in ArcGIS Pro. Ensure that the layer is displayed using unique values symbolized by the subtype field. Publish the layer from ArcGIS Pro.
  • Remove the contingent values and republish.
