Implement SQL Server Express as an External Data Store:Step 1 - Install Java Runtime Environment (http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp)Step 2 - Install ArcGIS Server JavaStep 3 - Install .NET Framework 2.0Step 4 - Install sql Server express 2005 (English Version)* Enable Mixed Mode Authentication during Install* Make Sure to Install sql Server Management Studio expressStep 5 - Configure sql Server express as follows:A. sql Server Management Studio express > Create Database Named: "ArcGISPrincipalStore"B. sql Server Configuration Manager > Network Configuration > Protocols for sqlexpress > TCP/IP > ENABLEDC. sql Server Configuration Manager > Network Configuration > Protocols for sqlexpress > TCP/IP > Properties > IP Addressesa. Delete all entries for "TCP Dynamic Ports"b. IPAll > TCP Port > 1433D. Restart sql ServerStep 6 - Install the JDBC Driver for sql Server 2005 -A. Download and unzip the JDBC Driver from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=99b21b65-e98f-4a61-b811-19912601fdc9&displaylang=en to: C:\Program Files\Microsoft sql Server JDBC Driver 2.0B.
