Workaround

  1. Update the CloudBuilder installation files.
    1. Go to %localappdata% in File Explorer.
    2. Go to Apps > 2.0 > {character string} > {other character string} (location example:C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\O9WO2MGE.TGL\8WA5M49T.417).
    3. Search for a folder that starts with "arcg...exe" and is followed by a long string. Installing multiple versions of Cloud Builder results in many of these.
    4. Identify which version by checking the name of the config file inside the folder. For example, 'CloudBuilder-10-8-1.exe.config'.
    5. Go to Resources > AutomationGen2 > Templates and update the 'basedeployment-multi-tier' and 'basedeployment-single-tier' files with a newer API version (in this case, change the applicationGateway apiVersion parameter to "apiVersion": '2019-07-01' or '2021-02-01).
  2. Deploy a new environment with automation artifacts.
    1. Download the automation zip artifacts, and modify the azuredeploy.json file to update the API version for the application gateway object, and deploy using these artifacts.
