Portal for ArcGIS in ArcGIS Enterprise fails to add Keyhole Markup Language (KML) as an item when the KML/KMZ file is hosted on the same web server as the ArcGIS Web Adaptor machine.

Workaround

Create the virtual directory on another machine.
