Additional Information

This particular workflow is working as expected. Since the map contains no secure data, there is no prompt for logging back into the map. The ArcGIS for Power BI component processes data layers the same way as a standard user and an ArcGIS user. For example, if the map contains only addresses, XY values, or administrative boundaries, then no login is needed to view and render the map. However, if the map contains secure content, then the viewers of the map will need to log in using the appropriate ArcGIS login. In viewer mode, it is not possible to edit the map or the report. It must be done in the report designer or editing level.

Workaround

  • Add a new page or visual to the project, add a new ArcGIS for Power BI visual element, and log in to ArcGIS Online. A new valid token will be created, allowing the existing visuals to work again.
  • If a project is published to SharePoint for the public to access and does not have editing rights, this may require republishing the project.
