There are limitations with files and features that can be added directly to the map in Map Viewer Classic. Refer to the following documentation for additional information: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/use/troubleshoot.htm#anchor26. The workaround is to publish as hosted feature layers before adding to the map.
