The web application published using the Story Map Tour template does not preserve the images added through the builder mode.

Workaround

Create a point feature with the following fields, and publish it as a hosted feature service. The application automatically recognizes these fields and shows the results as expected.

Fields: Name, Description, Icon_color, URL, and Thumb_URL.
