Additional Information

This is expected behavior when symbolizing features using the Unique Values renderer. The field used to define the unique values is made required at the Field Maps level, and requires a value to submit successfully. The Submit button is no longer disabled in the current ArcGIS Field Maps 21.2 release, but is still active and will produce an error indicating the field must be populated before submitting.
