Workaround

Create a view of the feature class and add a column that calculates the boundary length using ST_Perimeter.CREATE VIEW pg_poly_vw ASSELECT objectid, shape, ST_Perimeter(shape) AS shape_perimeter FROM pg_geom_poly;
