The sdeimport tool in ArcSDE 9.2 will not import raster catalog pyramids but the metadata still has pyramids information.

Workaround
Step 1. Correct the pyramids metadata for each imagesderaster -o pyramid -l rastercat,image -v 1 -L 0 -i 5151 -u wilson -p wilson...sderaster -o pyramid -l rastercat,image -v 10 -L 0 -i 5151 -u wilson -p wilsonStep 2.
