The Multi-Directional Hillshade layer is not added to a map if Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is turned on in an organizational account and the user adds the layer through Add Data.

Workaround

1. In the ArcMap Catalog window, add the ArcGIS Server connection: <a href="https://elevation.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services" target="_blank">https://elevation.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services</a> and credentials.2. Add the Terrain service from the WorldEvelation folder.3. Go to Properties > Server Functions.4. Change it to Multi-Directional Hillshade.5. Click OK.
