Workaround

As designed:Please follow instructions below for log changes:1) If the Debug log, then they are using the wrong command. They need to run:Lmutil.exe lmswitch –c service.txt ARCGIS [new_log_file]So in their case:Lmutil.exe lmswitch –c service.txt ARCGIS .\logs\test.june2011They should then browse to the new log in the diagnostics section of the License Server Administrator and press Apply. Note, to move the old debug log, they may need to stop the license server as the service still holds onto the log somehow. They can copy and paste the file if they do not want to disrupt license services.2) If the Esri Audit log, then this is a custom Esri log and is not supported by FLEXnet publisher. The user needs only to create a new blank log file such as “ESRIAuditNEW.log” and then open the configure panel of the License server Administrator, browse to the new audit log, and press apply. The new Audit log will be in use now. As for 1) the user may need to stop the license server to physically move the old log to a new location or they can copy paste.3) If the Flexera Report Log: We do not use this log as standard, and it is something typically used by customers who have multiple license managers (e.g. ArcGIS and Autodesk). Furthermore, the Reportlog is binary/encrypted so cannot be read without some third party tool like FLEXnet manager. Thus, this is something we only support as part of what comes in FNP, but not as a log file for ArcGIS. That said, the commands they specified are correct, but the user needs to do the following to make this work:a) Create an Options file such as ARCGIS.opt and add the following to the file:REPORTLOG +[name of existing report log] for example: REPORTLOG +test.june2011b) If the Options file is located in a separate location to the service.txt/License bin then they need to add the entry to the Service.txt:SERVER this_host ANYVENDOR ARCGIS OPTIONS="<a href="file:C:/Program" target="_blank">C:\Program</a> Files (x86)\ArcGIS\License10.1\bin\ARCGIS.opt" Note: add “~” if the options file path has spaces in it.c) Stop the License Server and Start it again, this picks up the Options file and service.txt changes.d) Run the command again:Lmutil.exe lmnewlog –c service.txt ARCGIS .\logs\test.january2013This should give them what they need for the Report Log. For further questions regarding the report log (again used for customers of FLEXnet Manager), they should consult the documentation for that.
