The IFeatureClass.Search() method returns an exception, "The specified coordinate exceeds the valid coordinate range," when used against a Z-aware SDE feature class, if the spatial filter defined is: ISpatialFilter.SpatialRel = esriSpatialRelEnum.esriSpatialRelWithin.
