Please do not use help.arcgis.com for help documentation, as this resource is no longer updated. Use developers.arcgis.com/javascript . The issue with the buffer not being generated is due to the date line. This was addressed in a different sample, http://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/samples/util_buffergraphic/ . Generally, normalizing the geometries takes care of this issue. Please use the above-referenced sample and implement it into the other sample.Steps to Reproduce
