The 'Generate your own encryption key' option does not generate an encryption to be used for ArcGIS Credentials after upgrading ArcGIS Maps for Sharepoint to 4.2.

Workaround

Manually re-activating the ArcGIS Maps for SharePoint feature corrects the issue.Steps:1. Visit the Site Settings page as site collection administrator.2. Go to the 'Site collection features' page.3. Deactivate the “ArcGIS Maps for SharePoint” feature, and then reactivate the feature.
