Sometimes if an area of interest is not defined, the filter definition passes through. Alternatively, after the view is created, go to the view's item details in the Settings tab, click Update View and reset the filter expression.
However, there are a number of limitations which makes this process inefficient.
Only one layer in the view can be updated at a time in the Update View. A filter needs to be applied to one layer, then updated to save the changes on that layer, rather than being able to change the settings on all of the layers and updating only once to save all changes.
Additionally, only one view parameter can be updated at a time. The filter expression and the area of interest cannot be updated at the same time before clicking Update. If this is done, none of the configurations are retained. Set the filter expression, click Update, then change the area of interest, and click Update. Repeat this for every layer in the view as described above.
