Additional Information
The geodatabase is case agnostic. However, it attempts to maintain user input when possible. When altering (specifically renaming), the case of the name does not play a part, and therefore, the requested change is not displayed.Workaround
To change an uppercase field named 'REDLANDS' to lowercase, rename the field to 'REDLANDS_1' (or any name other than the original field name), and change the name again to the desired lowercase field name, 'redlands'.
