The Extract by Mask geoprocessing tool fails with the error message, "Error 99999: Error executing function" when the output is set to .img or .tif, or the output does not have an extension and is saved in a folder.

This issue is not reproducible in ArcGIS Desktop 10.6.1 and 10.7. Currently not doing ArcGIS Desktop 10.5 patch.
