The Explorer for ArcGIS application does not display labels in a feature service hosted on ArcGIS for Server and consumed in ArcGIS Online through the Create Labels option in the ArcGIS Online map viewer.

Workaround

Labels are only supported on map services.To label features in a map, set up labels in ArcMap before publishing the service.
