The error message, "This file type is not supported." is returned when a hosted feature layer with attachments and configured with the 'Editors can't see any features, even those they add' option is edited by an anonymous user.

This is a known limitation with the current Map Viewer and under consideration for further Map Viewer Beta enhancements.
