Additional Information
In ArcGIS Pro 2.1 and earlier releases, when you renamed a folder connection in Pro what you were doing was providing an alias for that folder connection.
Beginning with ArcGIS Pro 2.2, when you rename a folder or a folder connection what you are actually doing is renaming the folder in the file system. This change in behavior for renaming folders was implemented to support creating new folders in the file system (you can't have 20 folders all named "New Folder" in the file system where you only see the correct folder name inside ArcGIS Pro via the alias).
When you are connecting to a UNC share in ArcGIS Pro, you can't rename the underlying share using the standard Rename capabilities. This is true even in the file system. To rename a UNC share, you have to go to the machine on which the original folder resides and modify its Sharing properties to change the share name. This operation will not succeed and therefore you will see an error message.
