The error message, "Not supported on a view" is returned when recalculating the spatial extent of a geodatabase view using the ST_GEOMETRY data type in Oracle.

- Drop, re-create, and re-register the view with the geodatabase, inputting the new extent manually in the register with the geodatabase tool if necessary.
- Update the extent manually in the SDE.LAYERS table using SQL. This however does not update the same information in the XML of the SDE.GDB_ITEMS table, which means the two will be out of sync. An enhancement request (ENH-000106516) is currently open to give users the ability to update the XML within the GDB_ITEMS table.
