The error "Invalid raster database. Failed to create raster layer" is returned when trying to display certain ArcSDE raster dataset with the attribute table in ArcMap whose version is same as ArcSDE, if the raster was imported into an ArcSDE geodatabase with a new version of ArcCatalog.
