Additional Information

The output is correct and expected. On the assumption the two input feature classes are: - FC1, which contains the two contiguous lines. - FC2, which contains the one merged line. If FC2 is used as the Update Features and FC1 as the Base Features when running the tool, it sees the merged line matching the two lines as a 1:2 match. The tool reference states: "The output feature class contains all participating update features (matched and unmatched) and any unmatched base features. ". Since there is no unmatched base feature, it writes out the only participating update feature and gives it change type S, exactly as explained in the tool reference: "The matched update features differ from their corresponding base features in topology. For example, one update feature matches two base features". Specify an output match table, which contains two records showing the same merged line matching the two lines in FC1.
