Additional Information
As part of the data exploration process, the interactive Cut and Fill Exploratory Analysis tool is designed to provide a quick answer using the currently displayed content view, rather than accessing underlying data. The displayed content of the scene is drawn at a Level of Detail (LOD) applicable to the current visibility distance, which can change rapidly based on the camera position (particularly for ground surface mesh). The purpose of this quick answer is to gather an estimate of a volume (for example, for a pile that needs to be moved) or quickly evaluate potential sites for cut and fill construction. For higher resolution data-driven results, the Cut and Fill geoprocessing tool, which takes a little longer to set up and configure, is recommended instead.
Note 1 - The amount of difference in the values will depend on many factors, such as the resolution of the underlying elevation surface data, the distance to the cut and fill polygon, the camera view height and angle, and the use of local view mode (for example, a UTM zone) versus global view mode.
Note 2 - Zooming in closer to the cut and fill polygon area will pull in a higher LOD of the surface mesh (for a generally more accurate result), while more distant view points will use a coarser LOD for the surface mesh (which would mean a generally less accurate result). Both results will differ from the geoprocessing tool results.
Workaround
Use the 'Cut Fill' geoprocessing tool for data-driven cut and fill volume calculations. See https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/mapping/exploratory-analysis/interactive-cut-and-fill.htm for more details and related help links.
