Additional Information

Cell values in the output curvature result are correctly calculated based on the curvature equation http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/tools/spatial-analyst-toolbox/how-curvature-works.htm The values are very high because cell size and thus L value in the equation is very small, which is 1 in this case.

Workaround

Running the tool from the Neighborhood tool that smoothes the data produces better results.
