The CreateDatabaseConnection_management tool used in Python scripts does not preserve the Database property needed to connect to DB2 and Informix databases. Since the connection is not properly established, scripts that use the eateDatabaseConnection_management tool to connect to the database prior to executing other tools stop responding.

Workaround

The ArcGIS 10.1 Final and ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 upgrades succeeded when employing the old style connection method. Use CreateArcSDEConnectionFile_management for ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 for DB2 and Informix.
