The Create Trade Area From Subgeography Layer tool does not append the input boundary layer ID field to the subgeography output layer if the ID field is in a string format.

Workaround

Select or create an ID field that is numeric.Create a numeric ZIP Code field:1. Create a ZIP Code layer. 2. Open the attribute table of the ZIP Code layer, and from the Table Options, choose Add Field. Name the field, eg, 'ZIP_Code', and leave the default type and precision as 'Short Integer' and '0'. Click OK.3. Right-click on the new field and choose Field Calculator >Yes. 4. Double-click on the existing ZIP Code field in the Fields selector. Click OK.
