The Create Enterprise Geodatabase Tool is not supported for Cloud Databases (e.g. Microsoft Azure SQL Managed Instance). Creating a new Enterprise Geodatabase fails and return the error "Underlying DBMS error (-51). Extended error code: (0) Success - SDEINTERCEPT: Modifying logical file name is not supported in SQL Database Managed Instance".

Workaround

  • Use Create Enterprise Geodatabase Tool to create the database.
  • Go within SQlServer Managemet Studio and set following Parameters.
  • Rerun the Create Enterprise Geodatabase Tool.
