The development team has considered the issue and concluded it will not be addressed. If this is still a concern, contact Esri Support Services.Workaround
Use the Multipart to Singlepart tool Data Management Tools to convert the multipoint feature class to a single point feature class, and use the result as the reference data when creating the address locator.
