The Buffer geoprocessing tool freezes or takes multiple days to fail in ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap when the Geodesic method is used on a feature class with a large number of vertices.

This issue is not reproducible in ArcGIS Pro 2.9. Refer to BUG-000122502.Workaround
Split the data up into halves with a definition query, run the buffer on each half, and merge the outputs.
