Additional Information

This is a known limitation. ArcGIS Pro allows to define a field as non-nullable, however a default value is still provided. The default value is not a null, but in Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS, the empty string default is interpreted as null.

Workaround

  • Use the Smart Editor widget in the web app.
  • Create a non-nullable field directly in ArcGIS Online instead of ArcGIS Pro. The default values are nulls and are interpreted the same way in Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online.
