The Batch Update Fields (Data Management) geoprocessing tool fails and returns the following error message, "999999: Something unexpected caused the tool to fail. Contact Esri Technical Support (http://esriurl.com/support) to Report a Bug, and refer to the error help for potential solutions or workarounds." when there are null values data in a long (32-bit Integer) source field and the target field is of the data type short or small integer (16-bit Integer).
