The ASCII character for certain character functions is displayed incorrectly when using these character functions in a Visual Basic (VB) script label expression while utilizing the Maplex Label Engine in ArcMap.

Additional Information

By default, the Maplex Label Engine removes extra spaces from labels. To change this option, follow the steps below: 1. Open the label manager, and select the label class. 2. Click the Expression button. 3. On the Label Expression dialog box, click the Maplex tab. 4. Uncheck the Remove extra spaces from the label check box.

Workaround

Use the Standard Label Engine to label features instead of the Maplex Label Engine.
