The Append Routes tool in ArcGIS Pro runs for an unexpectedly long time on the second append of a session.

Workaround

After the Append Routes tool completes running as expected, save the project and close ArcGIS Pro. Reopen the project and make a new selection of different routes from the same feature class. The routes append in a similar time frame as the first run.
