The Append Data option of Market Analysis is unavailable in Business Analyst Desktop if ArcMap is connected to a Portal for ArcGIS site that does not have a GeoEnrichment service configured.

Workaround
When doing analysis in Business Analyst Desktop, sign out of the portal in ArcMap from File > Sign Out.OREnable the GeoEnrichment utility in the portal, using the ArcGIS Online tool or by installing Business Analyst Server.Steps to Reproduce
