Symbolizing using an Arcade expression which produces text values in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer returns the “Expression must return a number” warning even though the text is a supported return type for the Visualization profile.

This issue is not reproducible in Map Viewer.

Workaround

Reset the styles by selecting the 'single symbol' option and then adding the expression.
