Workaround
1. Use the TIN to Raster 3D Analyst goeprocessing tool to convert both of your TIN's to a raster surface.TIN To Raster (3D Analyst)<a href="http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//00q900000077000000" target="_blank">http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//00q900000077000000</a>**Specify that the Sampling Distance CELLSIZE be 10, to maintain a higher resolution**2. Use the Cut Fill 3D Analyst geoprocessing tool to calculate the volume between the two rasters.Cut Fill (3D Analyst)<a href="http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//00q90000001z000000" target="_blank">http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//00q90000001z000000</a>This should give you similar results as the Surface Difference tool when working with larger datasets.
