Bug

Starting ArcMap or clicking on the Search window in either ArcMap or ArcCatalog on Spanish Windows XP, 7, or Vista without the Spanish language supplement installed results in a Microsoft .NET Framework exception error, as it is looking for the file ItemInfoTypes.xml in a directory path that does not exist.

Workaround

Install the ArcGIS Desktop 10 Spanish Language supplement and set display language to Spanish.Language supplements are not yet available for all non-English users. For those non-English users (without language pack availability) the workaround is to create a physical folder on disk based on the language (example: ArcGIS\Desktop10.0\SearchResources\es\Schema\ItemInfoTypes.xml) and copy the original ItemInfoTypes.xml from the SearchResources\Schema folder.
