SQL Server geography feature classes are loaded differently in an ArcGIS Desktop 10.2.1 enterprise geodatabase with ArcGIS Desktop 10.2.1 compared to ArcGIS Desktop 10.3.1.

Additional Information
The issue here is that this data is not valid for the geography spatial type. There are slivers that exist which overlaps when stored in the geography type because of the curvature that exists with the geodetic model. The geometry storage which uses the planar model does not cause the overlapping with a flat earth model.
Workaround
Use ArcGIS Desktop 10.2.1 to load geography data into the ArcGIS Desktop 10.2.1 enterprise geodatabase.
