This issue is not reproducible for gaps larger than the X, Y tolerance.Workaround
Use the Edit Vertices tool to snap mismatched vertices to points, though this is not time-effective when reshaping a polygon to multiple points.
Alternatively, work with file geodatabase feature classes, which do not have this issue. Before sharing, convert the feature classes to shapefiles using the Feature Class To Shapefile tool (Conversion Tools).
