Single-band rasters loaded into a raster catalog in 9.3.1 format file geodatabase with Desktop 10.1 fail to display in Desktop 9.3.1 or 10.0.

Workaround

Load the required rasters again into the raster catalog by going to Load Rasters.Delete the existing ones from the raster catalog.
