Workaround

Recommend that users remove the server directories associated with a previous install (using the manager web application or ArcCatalog) before they install the alternate product. Alternatively, recommend that users remove all the associated server directories after they install the new product, then manually re-add new directories using ArcCatalog or the manager web application (this is a mess and an error prone step with Java’s ugly and long URLs).
