Workaround
Workaround: Select by attribute, start editing, and hit delete key on keyboard without opening the attribute table. But if user wanted to see the attribute information and wanted to make sure he/she is deleting the right features from the right layer, he/she would/may need to open the attribute table and delete from there. So there is no thing wrong with users' workflow. Attaching the workaround sent by Sue Sow from ESRI Singapore.-Charles FI refer to the NIM009304 (Synopsis: Select by attributes then deleteselected features.....) I wish to share with you the following Alternate Solution.* Select features from the Feature Class in ArcMap Viewer (when inEditing mode) * Open Attribute Editor, click Show Selected button * Highlight those records that you would like to delete and besure not to select the empty records (the highlighted records willdisplay in yellow color, see attached screenshot filename:screenshot.jpg) * Right click and choose "Delete Selected" from the Row ContextMenu * Result: features will be able to be successfully deleted,ArcMap will not crash. * This workaround work the same when you select the features usingSelect by Attributes. The bottom line is to highlight the records thatyou would like to delete from the set of the selected features.Best regards,Sue
