Saving shapefile field edits with a date field in ArcGIS Pro fails and returns the error message "Error: 000664: Invalid input: This type of dataset is not supported".

Workaround
- Make the edit to the date field and save to trigger the warning.
- Select the Discard and Refresh button next to Save.
- The edit then applies as expected.
