Rendering labels for unregistered feature classes stored in SQL Server performs exponentially slower than for registered feature classes.

Workaround

• Use annotation classes: Refer to the ArcGIS Pro: Create annotation feature classes documentation.
• Register the database as an enterprise geodatabase and register the dataset with the geodatabase.
• Use a file geodatabase or a PostgreSQL database as the source.
