Bug

Publishing to ArcGIS Server yields inconsistent results when publishing data from a geodatabase connection that does not have saved credentials, depending on whether the feature class is added to the map document during the current ArcMap session, or the map document is previously saved and reopened.

Workaround

Add the database to the ArcGIS Server data store in ArcGIS Server Manager by importing the database connection file.

  • For the Publisher Database Connection, import the connection that does not have credentials saved.
  • For the Server Database Connection, import the connection that has saved credentials.

For best results, make two connections in the data store.

  • Connection without credentials as the publisher
  • Connection with credentials as the publisher and server.

Otherwise, only publish map documents created using a database connection with saved credentials.
