Additional Information

This issue is not addressed. Use the following documentation to define parameters on custom geoprocessing script tools. http://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/arcpy/geoprocessing_and_python/setting-script-tool-parameters.htm

Workaround

-Import point feature class in ArcMap.

-Run Buffer tool on the feature class.

-Share result as a geoprocessing package (.gpkx).

-Unpack package and publish service from unpacked result.

-Service generated with correct geometry (esriGeometryPolygon).

(No ArcGIS Pro specific workaround)
