Description

When printing using the ArcPress printer engine to an HP DesignJet 5500 using native driver v.6.15, the print is stretched slightly in one axis or direction. This stretching results in incorrect scale for this axis.

Cause

Certain versions of the HP DesignJet 5500's driver return different PHYSICALOFFSETY parameters when queried by ArcPress. This difference in the offset parameter results in incorrect scaling.

Workaround

Use one of the three following workarounds to print with correct scale.

Use 'oversize' media sizes instead of the standard media. These media have names that begin with the word 'Oversize'. For instance, if the layout is meant for an ANSI D page, use the 'Oversize: ANSI-D' media selection. Because these media print edge-to-edge, they should not exhibit the scaling behavior.

Some printers may print with reduced quality to an 'oversize' media because of physical limitations of the printer's hardware.

Use a printer driver other than the affected driver/version. For example, select the Postscript version of the driver, usually denoted by the 'PS' suffix, and try printing with ArcPress again. Or try installing and using an earlier version of the native non-PS driver. Contact HP for more info on loading a different driver version. See the link in the Related Information section below.
Use the Windows printer engine. Navigate to File > Print, click the Printer Engine drop-down list and select 'Windows Printer'.

Some printers may not have sufficient memory to print larger page sizes or content using the Windows Printer Engine.
