Workaround

A new patch for Personal ArcSDE is available for download here http://beta.esri.com/betaweb/products/arc92/project.cfm?PJID=1 All editions of ArcSDE require a valid keycode. The keycode for personal ArcSDE is entered automatically when a new geodatabase is created. The keycode that was part of 9.2 Beta 1 was invalid and expired on February 15th. Without a valid keycode you will receive the following error when attempting to connect to a geodatabase: Failed to connect to database. No ArcSDE server license found. This is a read-only connection. This patch provides a new, valid keycode for any geodatabase created after the installation of the patch, as well as a mechanism for upgrading existing geodatabases. Complete documentation for installing the patch & upgrading geodatabases can be found in the documentation section immediately below the downloads section. This is also discussed on the ArcGIS 9.2 Beta Discussion Forums at http://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=174&f=2016&t=182788&mc=1
